Happening This Week:

Safety Corner

Establishing healthy boundaries around screen time is crucial for fostering strong family relationships and ensuring the well-being of your children. Consider implementing some straightforward "no-go" times for technology use, such as:

1. In the car: Take advantage of this time to connect and engage in conversations. Ask your child about anything that brought a smile to their face today.

2. At the dinner table: Research indicates that families who share meals and converse are less likely to experience mental and emotional health issues. Make it a habit to go around the table and express one thing you're grateful for.

3. In bedrooms: Everyone, including kids and adults, needs time to unwind. Set a curfew for electronic devices, and ensure that kids' devices are charged in a common area, not in their bedrooms. Utilize the hour after the kids are in bed to review their tech activities.

By incorporating these healthy boundaries around tech usage, you can significantly contribute to developing children with prolonged attention spans, nurturing relationships, and joyful childhoods.

Yearbooks are on sale for $30 on balfour.com until 3/30/24. Yearbooks increase to $35 until 5/15/24. The purchase of a tribute does not include a yearbook. Tributes must be ordered through www.balfour.com. We will not accept money or orders at Mabry.

Walk to School Wednesday 2/7

**Join Us for Walk to School Wednesday on February 7th!**

Get your morning started on the right foot with our monthly Walk to School Wednesday! This event is not just about getting a bit of morning exercise; it's a fun way to kickstart your day with community spirit and joy.

**Date:** Wednesday, February 7th**Meet up locations:** Arrival 7AM

1. The Bank of Tampa

2. The Corner of Zelar and Hubert

Please register your child for Walk to School Wednesdays by clicking HERE or logging into your Mabry PTA account and clicking on My Account > Sales & Volunteer Forms and scroll down to enroll your child in this fun activity with a raffle this May!

We invite students and parents to meet us at our two designated spots for a delightful morning walk to school. And there's more to look forward to:

**Donuts and Spirit Sticks:** To add to the fun, we'll be handing out donuts and spirit sticks at our meeting points. A perfect treat to energize our walk!

**Special Guest - CUP:** For the moms, dads, and coffee enthusiasts, our partner CUP will be at the front entrance selling coffee. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a warm cup of coffee and support our school community.

This is a wonderful chance for parents to join in the fun and for kids to enjoy a lively start to their day. We look forward to seeing everyone there and making this Walk to School Wednesday

Final Week of Kids Heart Challenge

This is the last week for Kids Heart Challenge! Donations are due Friday February 9th. For any student in K through 5th grade that raises $35 or more, they will be attending the DJ party on February 14th. For online donation, please click on the link Kids Heart Challenge. If donating by check, please make check out to American Heart Association. Thanks for all the support to the American Heart Association and the Mabry PE department!

Valentine Pencil Grams!

Wish your friends at Mabry a “Happy Valentine's Day” with a personalized Valentine Pencil Gram! Write a message to the lucky recipient and we’ll attach it to a Valentine pencil.

Valentine Pencil Grams can be purchased by either completing this form and returning it to your homeroom teacher with a $1 donation for each pencil gram, or by visiting the NEHS pencil gram table. Donations can be made in cash or check made payable to The American Cancer Society.

Valentine Grams will be delivered to homeroom classrooms on Wednesday, February 14th.

Cost: $1 per Valentine Gram

Proceeds to benefit The American Cancer Society

Look for the table in front of the school by the flagpole!

Donuts with Dads (and other adults)

Attention Mabry Dolphins, the Dads Club will be having another donuts with dad event and wanted to share some of the key info below:

Date & Time: February 22^nd from 7am-7:30am

Location: Coleman track (directly next to Mabry school)

What will be provided: Donuts, OJ, Water, Juice, Coffee

Other info: After the event, kids will enter school via the pavilion area. Last event was quite crowded so we recommend leaving earlier than normal to find parking and be able to walk up in time. Parents & Guardians will NOT be permitted to enter the campus before, during, or after the event.
