2024-25 Mabry PTA Projects

 

Fundraising

We hit record-breaking funds this year to support Mabry PTA efforts! This year, our fundraising dollars were even more vital as our community was hit quite hard by two hurricanes, Helene and Milton, including our wonderful school. The money we raised throughout the year funded our music and art programs, safety signage outside of school, security enhancements, media center enhancements, turf installation, outdoor teaching areas as well as other campus and curriculum needs.

 

Programs & Academic Enrichment

  1. Purchased books for the Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program (SSYRA) statewide reading motivational program for students in grades 3 through 5, and purchase of “brag tags” to reward students for testing their knowledge on books they have read.
  2. Purchased Mystery Science online software for students and classroom teachers. 
  3. Purchased subscriptions for National Geographic and Scholastic for teachers to use in the classroom.
  4. Funded Brain Pop Jr., Magnetic Reading Student Books, Mabry Book Fairy program. 
  5. Provided classroom supply funds for the start of the school year for classroom and student needs.
  6. Funded college scholarships for Mabry alumni. 
  7. Funded donation to Hillsborough Education Foundation.
  8. Funded activities for the Mabry PTA National Elementary Honor Society.

Music & Art

  1. New Choral Risers for classroom and concert use.
  2. New Guitar Rack
  3. 25 New Xylophones and New Xylophone Mallet
  4. Purchased supplies and equipment for the Art program.
  5. New Sound System for chorus and orchestras.

Family Outreach

  1. Funded walk-a-thon community event for our Mabry families to engage in physical activity and community building.
  2. Funded new family welcome events for all new kindergarteners and new students to the school. All kindergarten students receive Mabry T-shirts.
  3. Funded community outreach projects for sister schools - including Lockhart - teacher wishlists, clothes donations and uniforms for Oasis, angel tree Lockhart, teacher appreciation for Westshore, West Tampa, Desoto Elementary, supporting school supplies for Lockhart elementary kindergarten, Dolphin Cares program.

Operations

  1. Campus improvement including a major turf project and outdoor teaching areas.
  2. Create vibrant long term landscape solution at front entrance of school
  3. Expanded sidewalk widths for safety and function at front of school
  4. Installed new walking track for school wide use.
  5. Planted 12 new trees along the front of the school with an irrigation system.
  6. Expanded front courtyard usability with new paver expansion project
  7. Purchased mulch to fill all playground spaces and flower beds.
  8. Funded Mabry's hydroponic TUB Farms Garden to provide opportunities for experiential learning in nutrition, science and health.

Safety 

  1. Funded safety signage outside of school to encourage drivers to slow down and be mindful of crosswalk locations.
  2. Funded safety crosswalk flags for children crossing the street.
  3. Funded activities for the Mabry Safety patrol program.

Hospitality

  1. Funded Monthly Appreciation events and Staff Appreciation week that includes food, small gifts and special experiences to help show them they are appreciated and valued. 
  2. Funded the 5th Grade moving-up ceremony celebrations.
  3. Funded family events throughout year including Muffins with Moms, Donuts with Dads, and Grandparents Breakfast Coffee
