National PTA has recognized Dale Mabry Elementary and Mabry Elementary PTA as a 2022-2024 School of Excellence for their accomplishments in building a strong, effective family-school partnership that is enriching the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. Dale Mabry Elementary and Mabry Elementary PTA are one of a select group of PTAs and schools nationwide to be recognized with the designation.

“We are thrilled to honor the accomplishments of Dale Mabry Elementary and Mabry Elementary PTA,” said Yvonne Johnson, president of National PTA. “Their work to strengthen their family-school partnership has created an environment where families feel welcomed, included and empowered to support their child’s success and where students feel safe, supported and ready to learn, which is more important than ever.”

National PTA’s School of Excellence program is a year-long commitment to strengthening family-school partnerships. Throughout the year, PTAs and schools collect feedback from their school communities to create and implement plans of action to improve family engagement and make a difference for every child. Through the School of Excellence program, PTAs and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts. The program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-drive decisions that yield positive, long-term results.

“There could not be a more urgent time to make sure schools and PTAs are reaching and engaging all families in ways that have a positive impact on all students’ success,” said Nathan R. Monell, CAE, National PTA executive director. “As a 2022-2024 National PTA School of Excellence designee, Dale Mabry Elementary and Mabry Elementary PTA have demonstrated what over 40 years of research has also proved—amazing things can be achieved when schools and families work together in effective ways to accomplish a common goal.”

Over the 2022-2023 school year, Mabry Elementary PTA focused on improving communication with families about advocacy, which included areas such as safety, communication, school improvement plan, and legislative sessions regarding legislation that impacted students and families. Efforts highlighted how families could get involved and stay up to date on these topics.

Mabry Elementary PTA President Paula Baron said “At the end of the day, we can’t do it without each other. Family engagement is shown to drastically improve student social skills and learning experiences. Not to mention it also gives teachers, staff, and parents support and sense of community and uplifts morale. It’s what makes Mabry such an amazing school year after year!”

To celebrate their achievements, National PTA presented Dale Mabry Elementary and Mabry Elementary PTA with a certificate and a National PTA School of Excellence banner to hang in their school. For more information about the National PTA School of Excellence program, visit PTA.org/Excellence.
